CODsafe help

How to connect your WhatsApp Business account to CODsafe, choose your reminder and auto-cancel times, and fix the common problems. On any paid plan our team does this setup for you, free. The app is under Shopify review, so these steps apply once it is listed.

Setup

Set it up in 6 steps

  1. 1

Create a Meta app with WhatsApp

In business.facebook.com use (or create) your Meta Business account. In Meta for Developers create an app of type Business and add the WhatsApp product.

  2. 2

Add your number and copy the Phone Number ID

Add and verify your store's phone number in WhatsApp > API Setup, then copy its Phone Number ID. It is a long number, not the phone number itself.

  3. 3

    Create a permanent access token

Business Settings > System Users > Add an Admin system user > Generate token for your app with whatsapp_business_messaging and whatsapp_business_management, and set expiry to Never. Do not use the 24-hour temporary token.

  4. 4

    Create the message template

Create a Utility template, for example cod_verify, with a body like "Hello {{1}}, your COD order {{2}} for {{3}} is ready. Please confirm or cancel." and two Quick Reply buttons: CONFIRM and CANCEL. Wait for Meta to approve it. A reminder template (for example cod_remind) is optional.

  5. 5

    Connect the webhook

In your Meta app open WhatsApp > Configuration. Paste the Callback URL and the Verify Token that CODsafe shows in its Settings, click Verify and Save, and subscribe the messages field. Then subscribe your WhatsApp Business Account to the app on the same page.

  6. 6

    Finish in CODsafe and activate

In CODsafe Settings paste the token and Phone Number ID, enter the template name and language (for example en, en_US or ur), choose the reminder and auto-cancel times, click Save & Connect WhatsApp, then Test Connection. When it shows the token is valid and the phone verified, click Activate on the Dashboard and place a COD test order to your own phone.

Troubleshooting

If something is not working

Messages send but replies never arrive
Your WhatsApp Business Account is probably not subscribed to the app. In the Meta app open WhatsApp > Configuration and subscribe the WhatsApp Business Account, and check that the messages webhook field is subscribed.
Test Connection fails or stops working after a day
You are probably using the 24-hour temporary token. Create a permanent System User token with expiry Never and paste it in Settings again.
Message not sent: template error
The template name or language in CODsafe must match the approved template exactly, for example cod_verify and en_US. The template must be approved by Meta first.
An order was not cancelled automatically
Shopify cannot cancel orders that are already fulfilled or paid in some ways. CODsafe marks those orders expired and shows the reason on the Orders page.
No message for an order
CODsafe only messages Cash on Delivery orders that have a phone number. Check the phone on the order, that CODsafe is activated on the Dashboard, and that your monthly message limit is not used up.
Billing & privacy

Plans, cancelling and your data

How much does it cost?
Free with 15 WhatsApp messages a month. Starter $4.99 (500 messages), Growth $9.99 (2,000) and Pro $19.99 (unlimited) per month, each with a 7-day free trial and free WhatsApp setup by our team. Billed by Shopify.
Do customers need to type anything?
No. They tap Confirm or Cancel in WhatsApp. Plain replies such as "yes", "confirm", "haan", "no" or "cancel" also work.
Who pays for WhatsApp messages?
Messages go through your own WhatsApp Business account. Any conversation fees Meta charges are billed by Meta to that account, not by us.
What data does the app use?
It reads and updates orders to find COD orders, add tags and cancel, and uses the customer's name and phone only to send the verification message.
