Setup

Set it up in 4 steps

    Start the free trial

    Open the app from your Shopify admin and click Start free trial on the Dashboard, then Approve. You get 14 days free, then $0.99 per 30 days.

  2. 2

    Turn on the app embed

    On the Dashboard, click Turn on embed. Your theme editor opens on App embeds with Age Verification switched on. Click Save. The pop-up shows straight away in the theme editor preview, with a Close preview button so you can keep editing.

    Set the age rule and text

    Open Settings. Choose Yes / No buttons or Enter date of birth, set the minimum age (18 by default) and, if you need it, a different age for each country. Write your heading, message and button text, then click Save. The live preview uses the same layout as your store.

    Check it on your store

    Open your store in a private (incognito) window. The pop-up appears before the page can be used. Confirm your age and the store opens. The answer is remembered on that device, so shoppers are not asked on every page.

How long a confirmed answer is remembered on the shopper's device, from one visit up to a year.

What happens when a shopper is too young: show a message, or send them to a page you choose.

Show the pop-up on every page or only on the pages you pick, and skip it for logged-in customers.

Troubleshooting

If something is not working

The pop-up does not show on my store
Check that the app embed is on: Online Store > Themes > Customize > App embeds > Age Verification, switched on, then Save. Also check that your trial or plan is active on the app Dashboard, and that the page you are testing is one of the pages you chose in Behavior.
I confirmed my age once and now I cannot see the pop-up again
That is expected: the answer is remembered on your device. To see it again, open the store in a new private window or clear the site data in your browser.
The pop-up shows in the theme editor but not on the live store
The theme editor preview always shows it. On the live store, make sure you clicked Save in the theme editor after switching the embed on, and that you are looking at the published theme, not a draft.
Search engines or speed tests show my store without the pop-up
That is on purpose. Search engine and speed test crawlers are not shown the pop-up, so your pages can still be indexed and measured.
What if the app's script fails to load?
The page unlocks by itself after 5 seconds, so shoppers are never stuck on an empty page.

How much does it cost?
14 days free, then $0.99 per 30 days, billed by Shopify. One plan, with no limit on pop-up views.
How do I cancel?
Cancel from the app Dashboard or by uninstalling the app in your Shopify admin. The pop-up is removed from your store straight away.
Is this a legal ID check?
No. It is an age confirmation: shoppers confirm their own age, or enter a date of birth that is checked in their browser. It does not check any ID or document. Check what your products and your country require.
What data does the app keep?
A date of birth is used only in the shopper's browser and is never stored or sent to us. The only thing kept is a small note on the shopper's own device saying how long their answer is valid. No cookies are set, and the app requests no access to your products, orders or customers.
